The water that comes up from the ground through this large masonry lock does not originate directly from the local underground water table, but from the overflow of a drinking water tank buried in the forest floor nearby. This water is first collected from the springs of a river called the Bocq, in the province of Namur, and is transported via a pipeline several dozen kilometers long to this reservoir. The water from this 'spring' thus comes from Namur, which also justifies the name of the forest stream that feeds it, the Bocq.
