Notre Dame de Dieupart or “Dei Para” , a Gothic church in Mosan style, was founded in the 12th century by the monks of Cluny .
According to legend, it was built from the remains of the old castle of Vieuxjardin . What we know with certainty is that between 1260 and 1320 the monks allowed the peasants to build an 'ecclesia integra' – a parish church – on land that they donated in exchange for certain rights that they reserved for themselves: according to the donation to the bishop of the candidate pastor and the tithe. » The construction of the church took place at this time.
It was restored several times, most recently in 1972 , and was listed as a monument in 1944. Facing a charming cobbled square, this prestigious place opens its doors during church services and unveils its treasures.
Inside, you can discover the miraculous statue of Notre-Dame de Dieupart and the 12th-century baptismal font opposite the crypt of bones . Although the Château de Dieupart is private, visitors can still enjoy the views and admire the beautiful avenue of red beech trees.
