The most beautiful of Dinant

This walk starts at the Albert 1 paid car park, but there are free parking facilities in Dinant, for example at Leffe Abbey (halfway).

The walk reveals Dinant in a number of facets that most tourists don't discover. The section on the other side of the Maas is at least as spectacular in terms of views . Then it's also up to the heights of the citadel to enjoy a spectacular view of the Meuse.

The hike first runs along the banks of the Meuse past the Sint-Maartenspoort il' Hotel de ville to the Pont Général de Gaulle. This bridge is beautifully decorated with colorful saxophones. On the other side we can visit the impressive war memorial that commemorates the senseless battles of the First World War.

We return to the statue of Charles de Gaulle where there is a spectacular view of Dinant, from the church below to the citadel above.

We continue through the water past the tourist office to the lock , which we use to get back to the other shore. Among other things, we see the Royal Athenaeum Adolf Sax.

A short detour to the Abbey of the Lady of Leffe and the beautiful brasserie "Le Confessionnal" is worthwhile.

Back along the Meuse, past the Place du Cardinal Mercier and a statue of the Ardennes hunters, to turn a little more towards the statue of Paternier. A little further is the A. Sax Monument , we pass Victor Collard Square to Sax's birthplace , which houses a small museum.

We continue to the Onze Lieve Vrouw church and to the other side of the Hotel de Ville with the war memorial.

We detour to the left to the stately Palace of Justice, square with a bronze statue of Leopold III and further to the Cultural Center with the Tower of Mr. Sax and the Church of Sant Nicolau.
