Hockai-over the Hoëgne and the place of the cross of the betrothed

The route begins in Hockai , where there is ample parking and catering.
Those who prefer a day trip with an afternoon stop in Hockai can start the route in Solwaster.

The route descends through the well-known Hoëgne valley and then climbs from Solwaster to the high mountains along the river DeSTATE. You will pass the Solwaster Dolmen , Bilisse Rock and Nutons Waterfall.

Continue to the Croix des Fiancées, a memorial to the two lovers who died in a snowstorm not far from the Baraque Michel while en route from Jalhay to Xhoffrai to arrange their marriage . They found a note on the man's jacket that read, "Marie has just died and so will I soon."
It is very fascinating to read the dramatic story that is told on a snowy winter afternoon at the foot of the cross on the monument's landmark .

From here it follows the route of Vecquée , used in the Middle Ages by the prince-bishops who went to the abbeys of Stavelot and Malmedy . The path is on a ridge at 500 meters above sea level.
