The Gasthuis woods are a remnant of the historic Waver forest. For a long time, it was a production forest owned by the OCMW of Mechelen. Since 2010, it has been managed by Natuurpunt.
The NSG Beneden-Dijle made its Tuesday walk here and encountered some special plants and galls: http://waarnemingen.be under observer NSG Beneden-Dijle on date April 16, 2024.
Parking is available at the start of the walk; boots may be useful.
