A route from Laarne through the Kalkenser meadows to the Scheldt in Wetteren.

Due to the 'Slow Path Network' and footpaths that are little used.

We also walk along a stretch of the old Scheldt arm.
Departure from the sports hall in Laarne, through the grounds towards the farthest corner where the hills are located.
When leaving Wetterstraat, turn left into a field path (arrow 18), take the second crossing to cross the ditch.

Here you follow the edge of the field (footpath Tragel T180), a somewhat difficult passage, but feasible, and switch to a wider path (Vorbelem los T117)
At the end of the street 'Biegungen' to the left, there is a slow path 'Boekakkerwegel', which leads to a field, simply follow the side.

The Kalkenser meadows are a wide grassy area, crisscrossed by wide ditches and streams, most of it is used as meadowland, in the northern area there are water bodies formed by peat extraction.
