Cycling in Wallonia: from Aubechies to Beloeil

Bike tour of about 20 km that combines archaeological discoveries and history in Picardy Wallonia, a region of western Hainaut large enough to be discovered by bike.

Let's go back in time on the roads of Picardy Wallonia: from Roman times to the archeosite of Aubechies to the Renaissance at the Château de Beloeil. We cross the center of Aubechies, one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia. The pretty village is representative of the architecture of Hainaut of the last century and surprises you with its Romanesque church and tavern Saint-Géry.

The network of junctions avoids major traffic routes, which is good. Through small country roads we reach the (geometric) French gardens of Beloeil Castle, which, together with the castle, form one of the most beautiful ensembles in Belgium. The estate is located near the Blaton-Ath canal that we follow to Huissignies. There we can stop for a visit to the Museum of Rural Life.

Difficulty: A 20 km course on country roads, without major difficulties. Pay attention to children when crossing national roads. The signage is excellent.

Children: From 10 years old

Departure: From the Archéosite® d'Aubechies you pedal through the village (beautiful church and a tavern opposite) and head towards exit 41 at Ellignies-Sainte-Anne.

Signage: At the Archeosite® follow the junctions: 42, 41, 40, 44, 27, 28, 29, 89, 82, 81, 86, 75, 64, 34, 35 and 37.
