Historical city walk in Herentals

Herentals is the historic capital of the Kempen. Already in 1150 the name 'Herenthals' was mentioned. This means 'a hill where denounce or hornbeam grows'. The city was granted freedom rights in 1209, now more than 800 years ago. Herentals acquired its greatest prosperity in the course of the fourteenth century, when the wool and cloth industry flourished.

Herentals is still very much alive today. An extensive range of sports and leisure facilities and a modern cultural centre provide proof of this. Herentals receives thousands of visitors from home and abroad every year.

In this brochure you will find a historical city walk. The walk is marked with copper rivets in the ground. Separate markings have been made for the shortening and the route that is suitable for wheelchair users. On the inside page you will find an overview map.
