Mol-Geel-Retie Sassen Walk

Beautiful, varied, nature junction walk that starts at Castelsebaan in Mol. It goes past lock 7 in Geel. Under normal circumstances, one could have a bite to eat at Brasserie Sas 7, but due to covid-19, all hospitality businesses are closed. The canal is crossed via a bridge that is only accessible to slow traffic.

The walk continues through the rural surroundings to Prinsenpark in Retie, which we briefly follow at the edge to return to the Canal from Bochelt to Herentals. At lock 6 in Mol - where there is also a dining establishment called Sas 6 - the canal is crossed via the lock gates. Then one follows the Boeretang for a while to dive into the beautiful forests of SCK*CEN/VITO, emerging back on Castelsebaan 3 km later, which is followed for a bit to complete the loop.

Those who are not satisfied with all the beauty to be seen during this walk can take a moment to stop at the birdwatching hut at Kattesteertvijver in Retie.

The walk also follows part of the beautiful Streek-GR Mol-om. This is marked with a red-yellow sign.
