Domain de Ghellinck and domain Het Anker are former castle estates that are now used for recreation. Domain de Ghellinck, owned by the de Ghellinck d'Elseghem family since the early 1700s, is now open to the public for (nature) walking, cycling, or at the children's playground. Domain Het Anker, with the former t' Oud Kasteel, surrounded by the meandering Schelde cut-off built in the late 1700s. One walks around the golf courses of Golf & Country club Oudenaarde with their clubhouse, the 19th-century castle of Petegem (1847). Parking at domain de Ghellinck, Kortrijkstraat (best set your GPS to house number 102), Wortegem-Petegem. The walk begins on a wide grassy path to the right and is initially interrupted by a flower field (in spring). Extra golf tip: when walking along the golf courses and you hear 'FORE' shouted loudly, that means a golf ball is going the wrong way (or in your direction), then you should make yourself as small as possible and protect your head. FORE = Flying Object Returning to Earth.
