Hegel-Gymnasium Magdeburg

The Hegel-Gymnasium Magdeburg is located in the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt, Magdeburg. About 970 pupils learn at it, who are taught by 64 teachers.
At the beginning of the 1991/92 school year, the structured school system was introduced in Saxony-Anhalt in unified Germany. In addition to eleven others, the magistrate of the city of Magdeburg had also planned the building of the polytechnic high school "Juri Gagarin" as a high school location. Almost 1000 students applied for this new grammar school, including about 600 from the classes with extended Russian lessons at the Gagarin School and about 150 from the choir classes of the Hegel-Leibniz School. The majority of the 65 teachers of this new school had also previously taught at various Magdeburg schools. There were sufficient teaching materials available, but the traditional school building was in great need of renovation.
