The Venus of Bierden is the engraved anthropomorphic representation of a woman's body on an early Mesolithic stone tool from a find near Bierden in the district of Verden. The stone tool was found in 2011 during archaeological prospections during construction before the laying of the North European Natural Gas Pipeline. Following a common terminology for such a representation of the female body, she is addressed as Venus. The engraving is on a sandstone about 5 × 7 cm in size. The time of origin of the artifact, which originally served as a retoucher for stone tools, can be dated to about 9000 BC on the basis of the find situation. The engraving on the stone represents the oldest depiction of women in northern Germany to date.
