The Rakotzsee is an artificially created lake between 1842 and 1875 in the Azalea and Rhododendron Park Kromlau and is located in the district of Kromlau in the municipality of Gablenz in the district of Görlitz. It is about 300 m long and about 35 to 50 m wide. In the middle, the lake is spanned by the 35 m long Rakotz Bridge. Also in the middle of the lake is a group of basalt columns known as the "Organ." The ensemble is considered exemplary for the garden architecture of the Romantic period.
Since the lake has no natural inflow, its water level is maintained by a pump. There are plans to supply it from a natural watercourse.
