Cultural landscape between Elseaue and Wiehengebirge (day tour HF5)

This varied circular route through the hilly cultural landscape between Elseaue and Wiehengebirge passes numerous villages and farms along the way. Right at the beginning, the town of Bünde invites you to linger. Here you can visit the Doberg Museum and the German Tobacco and Cigar Museum. The tour leads from the Bauernbad Randringhausen to the southern edge of the Wiehengebirge, where some inclines need to be overcome before the air spa town of Rödinghausen invites you to take a break in the café or the spa park. Afterwards, you cycle down along the Kilverbachtal to the Elseaue. Halfway along, on the left hand side, is Haus Kilver, a manor house first documented in writing in 851 and originally designed as a moated castle. Then the Elseaue accompanies you all the way to the cigar city of Bünde, where you reach the starting point of this tour. The route largely consists of asphalted farm roads with little car traffic or independent cycle paths. Only a total of 1.5 km may have higher traffic volume. With only 800 meters of water-bound road surface to traverse, the circular route is also suitable for road cyclists. An alternative starting point is the parking lot in front of the House of Guests in Rödinghausen. The town of Bünde can also be easily reached by train from Herford.
