Paderborner Höhenweg [Northern Loop]

Starting point of the Paderborn Hoehenweg is the mission house in the center of the village of Neuenbeken. Gently, but continuously, the path rises by around 150 meters over the next four kilometers, offering magnificent views of Bad Lippspringe, the Senne, and the Teutoburg Forest. Past Hindahls Kreuz, the path continues gently upwards at first, then down into the charming Beketal. After crossing the Beke and the subsequent country road, it becomes mysterious as you pass through an almost 100-meter-long railway underpass. This is followed by a saddle, and soon the Dunetal with the Kleinen Viadukt is reached. The path now goes quite steeply up the northern slope of the Dunetal for about 10 minutes to the observation platform built in 2014, with an ascent of about 50 meters. From the platform, there is a magnificent view back to the Kleinen Viadukt and the Beketal. From the platform, the blue signs of the cross connection of the Paderborn Hoehenweg now indicate the direction. After about 20 minutes of forest path, the former Uhden glassworks and the old bakery are reached. Passing under the railway underpass, the path descends into the village and shortly afterwards the hike ends back at the mission house Neuenbeken. The Paderborn Hoehenweg was certified as a "Quality Trail Wanderbares Deutschland" by the German Hiking Association in 2014, 2017, and 2020.
