Basnæs - Køng Overdrev

The route goes through a cultural landscape that has been created over millennia in interaction between nature and humans.

From Jarsskov on the way to Vester Egesborg, several of the old farms are passed, Skovgården, Vestergården, and Strandgården. They were moved out to the fields after the village's land consolidation in the 19th century.

Jarsskov

In Jarskov and on the meadows west of here, there is a rich birdlife. Commonly seen are common, gray, and teals along with lapwings and redshanks. The curlew - a wading bird with a curved upward-bending bill is seen skim feeding from lakes on the salt meadows. This is best experienced from the bird watching tower in the forest.

From the eastern bird tower, the marsh harrier can be observed gliding over the reed beds where it nests. The great crested grebe also breeds here with its anchored floating nest. From time to time, the white-tailed eagle can also be seen over the area as well as many herons. They have their breeding colony in the forest.

Vester Egesborg

Between Vester Egesborg and the beach lies an old military firing range that is still in use.

A red ball is hoisted as a marker when shooting takes place on the range.

When the red ball is hoisted, the alternative route must be followed, namely to continue along Strandgårdsvej to the outlet at Vester Egesborg.

Vester Egesborg, actually Vester Egepur or Egekrat, is a medieval village with a parish church.

The red parish church of Vester Egesborg was built between 1250 and 1300.

It is located in a hilly landscape close to Dybsø Fjord.

Between "Per Jørgens Brønd 1860" and the coast lies "The Landing Place at Vester Egesborg".

Stejlebanke

From Stejlebanke, you can see into the area from the south.

Stejlebanke is a natural area where heather used to grow. Now, the red campion colors the hill red in the summer. The cuckoo flower also grows in the area.

In the low area below the hill, many wading birds can be seen foraging for their food in the form of worms, snails, and shellfish. Flocks of small copper sandpipers and snipe are not uncommon to see searching the shallow water.

From Stejlebanke, a mill causeway stretches southeast towards the hill, Glarborg. The modern road runs diagonally across the causeway that created the mill pond for Kølebæk Mølle. The water mill is mentioned in the year 1370.
