Fanø Bad

The beach is a piece of dynamic nature that is constantly changing.

It is permitted to drive on the beach between Fanø Bad and Sønderho. The speed limit is 30 km/h.

The beach is Fanø's largest playground. There is room for all sorts of activities.

Bathing is of course one of the attractive aspects of the beach. The best place for bathing is the section between Fanø Bad and Rindby Strand.

The beach is very wide in this area, and every year it gets even wider. Therefore, a new ridge of dunes is now forming in the middle of the beach. This is how Fanø has developed over the last several hundred years. West of the new dune ridge is a fantastic bathing beach.

There are plenty of other activities on the beach. Here we fly kites, play football, volleyball, pole tennis, and much more.

South of Rindby lies the activity area commonly referred to as the buggy beach. Here you can surf, and especially kite surfers enjoy the sea near Fanø. You can also drive sand yachts, i.e., blockart, kite-buggy, and landboard.

Further south, the beach becomes narrower and narrower, but it is very wide at low tide. This is especially the part of the beach where you can find amber.

Bathing Advice

It is wonderful to bathe in the North Sea, and the beach at Fanø is completely free of stones and generally very child-friendly. The sea is also a powerful natural force that requires us to approach it with reason and respect.

At the Fanø Tourist Office, you can get the small brochure "The Sea Can Surprise Anyone," which provides good advice about bathing.

At Rindby Strand, there is a lifeguard station during the summer. They cannot monitor the entire 15 km long beach, but they are attentive to what is happening on the beach and can respond quickly if something happens.
