City walk (city guide) Arcos de la Frontera - Andalusia

Free parking on Calle Chiclana near Parque Cabezo . If you want to avoid the climb , you can park your car in the center (paying).

It is a bit of a climb, but soon we are at the Plaza del Cabildo with a beautiful mirador (viewpoint). There are the castle Castillo de los Duques de Arcos and the Basilica Menor de Santa Maria de la Asunción.

With a bit of luck, the male will be there with his stall with wild birds that you can pose to take a picture .

We walk further along a number of churches to the Palacio del Mayorazgo known for its Andalusian garden. Nearby is the Iglesia San Pedro and the Galeria de Arte. The latter specializes in Ceramics Andrés Oviedo.

Now one mirador after another follows with a view of the river Guadalete and the reservoir of Arcos. We pass the Iglesia de San Agustin and descend further to the Puerte de Matrera , one of the three gates that gave access to the city. A little further we arrive at the Palacio Matrera Abajo.

From here we return via the beautiful Mirador Peña Vieja with a further view of the valley of the Guadalete and the reservoir. We deviate slightly from the way back for the Ermita de San Antonio Abad.
