Salavas

Salavas is a municipality in the French department of Ardèche and has 504 inhabitants. The place is part of the arrondissement of Largentière. Salavas is located along the Ardèche, a river in France that originates in the eponymous department at an altitude of about 1400 meters in the "Forêt de Mazan." It flows into the Rhône at Pont-Saint-Esprit at an altitude of 50 meters. Between Ruoms and Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche, it meanders through the Gorges de l'Ardèche, a gorge several hundreds of meters deep with impressive rock formations. Particularly well-known is the Pont d'Arc near Vallon-Pont-d'Arc and Salavas. A "natural arch bridge" over the river created by nature.
