The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (abbreviated Sound and Vision) is an audiovisual archive with museum functions. The building was designed by the architects Willem-Jan Neutelings and Michiel Riedijk. The building was opened on 1 December 2006 by Queen Beatrix. In 2007 it won the Dutch Concrete Prize and in 2008 the Golden Pyramid. In 2010, the Sound and Vision building was elected building of the Zero Years. Total construction and furnishing costs amounted to EUR 60 million. Users of the Mediapark and residents of Hilversum nicknamed the building The Candy Box in 2006. From an election of the regional newspaper de Gooi- en Eemlander the term De glasbak emerged.
