Stone Bridge

On the territory of the former municipality of Langbroek, a third core emerged alongside the villages (Neder)Langbroek and Overlangbroek, namely the hamlet de Steenen Brug. The ribbon development is located around the Wijkerweg and the Bovenwijkerweg, which centuries ago were part of the main road from Wijk bij Duurstede to Amersfoort. The hamlet lies to the east of (Neder)Langbroek and is intersected by the Langbroekerwetering and the Langbroekerdijk. To the east, the house numbers along the Langbroekerdijk, up to the Ameronger Wetering, have the prefix B and to the west the prefix A. The A is used in (Neder)Langbroek up to castle Sterkenburg. In the past, there were various amenities near the intersection, such as two cafés and a bakery. There was no school; the children went to school in (Neder)Langbroek. Now the entire area is part of the municipality of Wijk bij Duurstede.
