The bleaching of the linen in Losser took place in the 18th century, among other places, on a meadow near the rectory and the fabric was also brought to the German Gronau. In 1774 the village bleach (4) was built in Losser. A lawn, intersected with arithmetic (ditches) from which the linen could be moistened, so that the sun could do its bleaching effect well. A bleach was usually founded by a manufacturer. But in Losser the initiative came from the inhabitants of the Village of Losser, a forerunner of the later municipality. The bleaching of linen took about 6 weeks and it was precious commodity. Presumably that is why a watchman's house was built. At the rear of this bleaching house is a window. As a result, the bleacher had a view of the bleach and was able to keep an eye on the precious linen
