"The starting point of this hike is already worth it: Fort Sint-Pieter in Maastricht, a fortress built in 1701 that had a military function until 1867. Today it is a tourist attraction. You will walk past the ENCI quarry, among other things. Just beyond the Belgian-Dutch border lies D’n Observant, an artificial hill of 170 meters high on the plateau of Sint-Pietersberg. A few kilometers further, you enter the Walloon part of the country. It's best to wear sturdy shoes for this challenging hike through three provinces."
