The Kampina
In the Kampina, one cycles through forests and across vast heathlands. In August, the heather begins to bloom, turning the heath into a purple sea. There are regularly benches at the small moors to enjoy the view and the tranquility. Shortly after leaving the Kampina, one cycles past a series of listed farms of the Kempen long-gable type in Lennisheuvel. Just below Haaren, one passes by the Castle Nemerlaer, which was built in the 13th century and has a very peculiar history.

In a notorious will, the nobleman determined, due to disagreements with his family, that the house should remain uninhabited for almost 70 years; this fate also befell Castle Heeswijk.

When this period expired, the Het Brabants Landschap foundation purchased the estate in January 1964. The dilapidated castle was included for a guilder.
