In the middle of the beautiful landscape in the Geuldal you can enjoy the breathtaking nature as a hiker. This walk leads you along the fast-flowing Geul and various beautiful flora and fauna. The Romans were also familiar with this fertile soil. They saw the Geul valley as a favorable location on the edge of the Via Belgica. Valkenburg is therefore extremely proud of the physical evidence, the found foundations of an old watchtower and nothing less than the remains of the Via Belgica itself. A special surprise on the route is the exact replica of the underground Roman catacombs. The tour goes along the route of the Via Belgica past the impressive Château St. Gerlach and other monumental pearls
