La commune de Lens comprend les villages de Lens, Crans-sur-Sierre, Flanthey , Chelin, Vaas, Valençon, Les Condémines, Saint-Clément et Petit-Ollon.
Le village de Lens, surplombé par la Statue du Christ-Roi, a été le lieu de séjour de Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz ainsi que du compositeur Igor Stravinsky.
Le Conseiller fédéral Roger Bonvin était originaire de Lens. Le Président actuel se nomme David Bagnoud.
