Château de Florzé is an elegant 17th-century castle in classical style.
The original Château de Florzé was part of the lordship of Sprimont and dates from the 13th century . It was occupied by the Presseux families and then, in 1497 , by the de la Marck d'Arenberg families. In 1570 it belonged to the last lord of Florzé, François Guillaume de Loncin.
In 1578, Alexander Farnese ordered its demolition, but François de Loncin managed to preserve the tower. At the beginning of the 17th century it consisted of two corner towers and a facade with a courtyard and a farm . In 1794, the castle was partially destroyed during the “Battle of Sprimont” between the Austrians and the French.
During the War of 40-45 , during Von Rundstedt's advance in the Ardennes Offensive, General Eisenhower himself stayed there for a few hours.
It is surrounded by a wooded park and offers visitors a breathtaking view of the Meuse Valley.
Today, Château de Florzé offers a variety of interesting activities for all ages. Those who want to stay in the castle can take advantage of the guest rooms that are available all year round.
