It was Prince Hesse-Rhinfels , a Bobelin who was accustomed to visiting the thermal waters, who took the initiative to have the mountain pavilion built at his own expense.
The idea was to allow walkers who used the promenades that were being built at that time to rest. He was also involved in the construction of the mountain promenades of Annette and Lubin. In 1769, he had a pavilion (Greek temple) built in the antique style . During his stays in Spa , he gave parties in his small pavilion .
This building did not stand the test of time and was rebuilt in 1851. The original architecture was not preserved and the square shape was changed to octagonal. The four granite columns from the facade of the monument from 1769 were reused.
A renovation was not completed until 2002. The pavilion is beautiful, but the magnificent view over Spa is completely obscured by the vegetation. Unfortunately, there is no bench there. (2025).
