The climbs around La Roche are not among the top challenges of the Ardennes. However, there is one exception: the various routes leading to the Col de Haussire. Two of these rank as the numbers one and two toughest climbs in the Ardennes. The proposed route here includes, in addition to a handful of smaller climbs, the most challenging of the Haussire ascent, which you will face right at the start if you begin in La Roche.

The route is not long (57 kilometers), but for this distance, the elevation gain (1320 meters) is considerable. This is partly due to the valley of the Ourthe River, where all climbs start more or less. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery, which is lush, green, and varied with forests, fields, streams, and a river. Most roads are quiet or very quiet.

The following côtes must be conquered: the number one climb in the Ardennes, namely the Haussire par Rue de la Gohette , then Beffe ,Tier du Laid Pré , Hodister and Halleux.
