Bredene-Sas derives its name from the old fort of Slyckens and the locks and sasses that connect the Bruges - Ostend canal with the port of Ostend. This 6-kilometer walk takes you along the fascinating history of this neighborhood. During the walk, you will encounter remnants from World War II, such as the Gun Bunker and the remains of the portal crane, which was used to lift engines of seaplanes. Additionally, you will pass by the Eilandje, the Slijkens lock complex, and other lovely spots!
