From the parking lot at the Red Cross reception center, you reach the 6.9 km long loop of the nature trail in the Vagevuurbos after 100 m. Some long, pleasantly walkable forest paths will take you to the turning point after just over 3 km, near the N370 (main road Beernem-Wingene). There is a good chance that you have already seen deer or heard tawny owls calling, especially in the evening.

On forest paths covered with pine needles, you gradually descend to the Blauwhuisbeek and the surrounding open natural areas. Just before the 25 m high Hendriksberg, you walk a few hundred meters on the asphalt of the traffic-calmed Blauwhuisstraat. You conquer the old land dune after a short, steep climb to enjoy a splendid view of the valley you have just walked through at the Vista.

At the foot of the mountain, another beautiful open natural area opens up, and near a contracting company, you are - before you realize it - already on the last kilometer.

There are options for less or more running:

• Run less, 3 km instead of 6.5 km: run straight ahead near the picnic bench along Blauwhuisstraat to hit the green loop again on the slope of the mountain
• Run more: at the turning point, cross the N370 and the parking lot to join the main access of the Lippensgoed-Bulskampveld area on the Bulskampveld running route (5.2 km)
