GR 128 Flanders Route | GR 5A Hiking Loop from Flanders
This hike takes you along the GR 128 through the calming natural areas of the old Schelde loop. The very well-maintained paths run through a wet and peat bog area, which is why many birds choose this vast terrain as a breeding ground. Together with them, you can enjoy the many water spots that have arisen from peat extraction. Wide areas alternate with countless water spots and small patches of forest. When crossing the Schelde, the ferryman is ready every half hour to take hikers and cyclists to the other shore. Shortly afterwards, when crossing the Dender, the path leads you to the place where GR 128 and GR 5A meet, thus entering Denderland together.
