Thune

The Thüne, in the upper reaches of the Strothe, is a 24.5 km long, orographic right tributary of the Lippe in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The Thune rises as Strothe in the Egge Mountains in the Düstergrund northwest of Veldrom. From its source, the water initially flows briefly in a westerly direction, but then turns to the southwest and flows in the valley between Barnacken and Hohlstein downhill to Kohlstädt and on to Schlangen. Here the Strothe picks up the Sternhofbach from the right, which rises in Oesterholz, flows northwest past Schlangen and touches the northwest of Bad Lippspringe. On the Diebesweg, the Strothe picks up the 7 km long Lutter from the right; from this point on, the body of water is called "Thune". The Thune continues to flow southwest, picks up the Grimke from the right and reaches Paderborn-Sennelager. After flowing through the Paderborn district of Sennelager, it also picks up the Mömmenbach from the right. Before the Thune flows into the Lippesee east of Paderborn-Sande at 95 m above sea level, the flowing water culverts the Boker Canal. The Thune continues to flow through the Lippesee and then flows into the Lippe after a flow of 22 km.
