City walk Pistoia - Tuscany

Pistoia is of course known for its blues festival 'Pistoia blues' and the bear games 'Giostra del orso' , in which twelve horse riders, three from each district, try to pierce two targets in the shape of bears with a lance.

This city walk takes you past all the sights of this fun and fascinating city. As in all of Tuscany, there are many churches to see.

On the piazza del Duomo is a beautiful cathedral , an octagonal nativity chapel and 3 palaces in a beautiful harmony. In the San Zeno Cathedral is the chapel with the famous Altare di San Jacopo , a masterpiece of goldsmithing with 628 figures.

In the church 'Di Sant Andrea' there is a famous hexagonal pulpit on columns.

The Basilica della Madonna dell'Umilta is crowned with a beautiful round dome.

The Ospedale del Ceppo has a beautiful frieze of glazed earthenware on the outside and is one of Pistoia's jewels.
