The Iepenhof is a general cemetery next to the reformed church on the Hoofdweg in Hoofddorp. The cemetery was opened on 1 February 1860 and is one of the oldest cemeteries in the Haarlemmermeer.
The nineteenth-century Iepenhof owes its name to the six large elms that stood in the cemetery. Five of these trees have now been felled by Dutch elm disease: only the large plume at the entrance to the cemetery is still standing. During the First World War, a watchtower was located at the top of this tree. In the middle of the cemetery there is also a white-painted bier house, the place where the dead could be laid out in the nineteenth century. The baarhuis is currently used as a service house. The wrought iron gate at the entrance to the cemetery is decorated with various symbols of death, such as a skull, a torch and a scythe. Taxushof cemetery in nearby Nieuw-Vennep has the same, complete fence at the entrance; The side wings of the fence have been preserved. Both the Iepenhof cemetery and the nearby church and presbytery stand on a mound.
