Rivers, high dikes, windmill-rich polders, and blooming orchards are the main ingredients of the Lek and Linge Route. Expansive views over the Lek alternate with polders featuring perfectly straight ditches and charming inland rivers like the Linge. Beautiful farms and old fortified towns complete the picture. And in spring, you can also enjoy the beautiful blooming fruit trees.
You cross the polders of Alblasserwaard and Vijfheerenlanden, two polders that were developed as early as the late Middle Ages. The age of these polders is still visible in the scattered and linear settlements along the dike and in the narrow, elongated meadows that run perpendicular to the dike.
