The first mentions of this estate go back to the mention of a 'Joffrouw Lijs-beth van Valkenberg'. But it's not clear if Valkenberg was her actual last name. Knight Willem van Berchem inherited the estate in 1440 from his father Jan. And then other, wealthy owners followed such as Frederik van Renesse, General Antonius Croq and in the 18th century Jan Carel Ter Borch. For a long time it remained the property of the Ter Borch family. The current manor house does not come from the turbulent middle ages, but from the 18th century. It is closed to public and private property and cannot be seen from public paths. So we'll leave it alone.
