The statue was made by P. Jungblut from Bilthoven and depicts the Dutch virgin with sword and cross. The war memorial was unveiled on 1 November 1946. The monument contains the names of the inhabitants of the municipality of Losser, who died during the Second World War on Dutch territory and in the then Dutch East Indies. Afterwards, the names of four victims of the so-called 'police actions' in the Indies (1945 – 1950) were added.
The monument originally stood on the Gronausestraat, but in 1979 had to give way to the new building of the Rabobank and then got its current location.
