From the "ship place" to the old Ochtum.

We continue until we reach the bridge that crosses the Hombach or Leester Mühlbach. Before the bridge, we turn right and hike into the Leester Marsch, always along the winding stream, past the remains of old weir systems. We pass the "Pastorenwäldchen," soon we can climb an artificial hill to the left, from which we have a view of Brinkum with the church tower, towards Bremen, and in the direction of Kirchweyhe with the tower of the Felicianuskirche.

We continue towards the highway, cross the connecting road from Weyhe to Brinkum and then take the next turn to the right. We cross a drainage ditch and take the next left towards the highway. At the end, we turn left and head towards the group of trees, behind which the old Ochtum river hides. We go back, stay on the path parallel to the highway - to the left a biotope, until we reach a gas station. Now we take the path to the right and find ourselves on the cycle path from Bremen to Weyhe.

Finally, we arrive in Leeste at the street "Am Weidufer," turn right onto "Krumme Reihe," a sign already points to the bridge over the Mühlbach, and reach the "Schiffstelle." The path is mostly paved but can be muddy and rough in sections. It is recommended to wear sturdy footwear. Depending on the wind, the traffic noise from the highway can be heard. With stronger winds, this hike can be uncomfortable. We pass some old weir systems that were used to divert the water of the Mühlbach onto the meadows and fertilize them with suspended particles.

The Leester Mühlbach once powered the water mill at the entrance of Leeste (Leester Straße). The pinnacle of the hike is reached when we are at the old Ochtum arm. Bird lovers will enjoy this hike, depending on the season, you can see wild ducks, whooper swans, herons, lapwings, pheasants, migrating cranes, and many more. You can also come across deer. It is worth bringing binoculars. The "Pastorenwäldchen" gained sad notoriety, as in 2001, after many weeks, the body of a missing girl was found here. The murder case remains unsolved.
