Moor gates

Well informed by the Bourtanger Moor Nature Park!

For the first settlers, the moor was often a source of gruesome legends and fairy tales - today no one gets lost here. Several contact points serve as "moor gates" and facilitate access to the nature park: The Emsland Moor Museum in Groß Hesepe, the Veenpark in Barger-Compascuum, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Museum in Twist and the Veenloopcentrum in Weiteveen have not only presented the moor experience in interesting exhibitions, but also provide further information, such as maps or route tips. At four other information points - Van Gogh Huis, Collectie Brands, Smalspoormuseum and Bee Centre - visitors are informed about special features around the moor, for example about the life and work of the famous painter, who used the moor as inspiration for numerous works.
