This route runs along the 17 pillars with historical information that are part of the project The Canon of Enkhuizen. This project has been organized by the Foundation Chronicle of Enkhuizen in collaboration with the municipality of Enkhuizen. Each pillar addresses topics related to the history of Enkhuizen, starting in 1572. This is the year in which Enkhuizen became the first city in the Northern Netherlands to shake off the Spanish yoke and chose for the Prince of Orange.
