Lügde Myth Trail

The first part of the ascent path up to Herlingsburg corresponds to the old path of the people of Lügde to "their castle". At a rest area halfway up, is the place where, according to legend, "the White Maiden" searches for her lover on full moon nights. Their story can be read on a lovingly designed bench.

Then it goes a bit steeper up the mountain to the north gate of the hill fort. The path continues into the interior of the fortification along the old boundary from 1668 to the shelter. The remaining boundary stones are from Prussian times. Take some time and enjoy the magnificent view towards Köterberg during an extensive break on the cozy landscape lounger. At the shelter, you will find the next legendary place. Here, the "Hermann Legend" tells of a dwarf people who hold a fabulous treasure hidden in the mountain.

The return to the north gate can be done either directly or via the fortification in the western area. When walking along the fortification, you can expect a fantastic view of the Emmer Valley at some points.

Now it's downhill towards Glashütte - passing by the Wölbäckers from the early Middle Ages, the path junction to "Bomhof", and the spring system of the city of Lügde. At this point, the legend of the "old chancellor" is told, who played pranks with the farmers and animals. A short distance further, you will reach the hiking parking lot again.
