You are in a place known as Surixano Lavoir, located at the end of the creek of the same name. Years ago this was the place where neighbors came to hand wash their clothes. Today is a recognized work of architecture and a strategic location part of Cape Finisterre’s urban master plan.
The Mar de Fóra Route, also known as "Camiño da Ínsua” is busy with tourists going to this wild beach after visiting the church of Santa María das Areas, declared a Place of Cultural Interest (BIC), together with the stone cross, the cemetery, the courtyard and the chapterhouse. Pilgrims usually get to the beach by crossing the historical area towards the Mar de Fóra School, and from there, through San Roque towards the sea.
Check the roadside QR codes for further information on what you see: Prado’s mill, the place known as A Insua, the "socalcos de A Insua" (sloped terraces with retaining stone walls) and the Mar de Fóra beach.
