The former estate was originally the ancestral seat of the Schachners, who can be traced back to 1292, the first of whom was the documentarily mentioned Ditmayr Schachner. Under Paul Schachner, the estate was referred to as Schachnerhof in 1380; because of these ownership conditions, the estate was also previously known simply as Schachen. The name Ebenzweier originates from the location description "next to the pond." However, the Schachners already referred to their estate interchangeably as Schachen or Nebenzweier. According to the 1446 feudal book of the Wallseer, the Schachners were servants of the lords of Ort. A Hans Schachner is mentioned in 1526 and Abraham Schachner in 1550. In the 16th century, the Schachners became Protestants. A Schachner named Abraham was even a pastor in Altmünster in 1564; from him, the estate passed to his namesake son in 1580. The Schachners had to leave the country because of their faith, and in 1626 Ebenzweier was confiscated by the ruling prince.
