The name of the domain is related to the first owner Jan van de Poele , who is already mentioned as owner in 1365 (cf. facade stone with year).
Outside the ramparts in the public park you will find a belvédère or gloriette. Protected as a monument by Ministerial Decree of 16/04/2004. Presumably built shortly before the First World War following the construction of the railway and reportedly to allow the owners to view their domain, located over the railway line. It is conceived as a lookout tower, with an open lower area, one floor accessible via an external staircase to a polygonal space with an outdoor terrace, covered by a dome with a wide roof overhang. Entirely designed in an eclectic style, the design of the windows in round-arched niches with profiled frames on pilasters and the balustrade of the outdoor terrace are more reminiscent of 18th-century classicism and 19th-century neoclassicism.
