Herenthout

In the vicinity of the Grote Nete, mother nature shows her most beautiful side. The river meanders stately between meadows, while forests rise above the valley. It is not without reason that this region was chosen for the film adaptation of Felix Timmermans' Pallieter. The heath and the fen on the Kruiskensberg indicate that you are staying here in the Kempen. Moreover, the stately forest drives of the Merodese Bossen are not inferior to those of other renowned forests. The castle of Herlaar and the Hof van Rameyen provide a romantic backdrop.
PLACE OF DEPARTURE
Taverne 't Schipke aan de Nete can be reached by leaving the E313 at exit 20-Herentals-West and taking the N13 towards Lier. In Bouwel you turn left to Herenthout and then right towards Berlaar. 2.5 km away a sign points you to the left to the tavern.

Earth and forest roads; on the Netedijk grass; a busy concrete road and some low-traffic asphalt strips.
ACCESSIBILITY
Impossible for buggies and wheelchairs; dogs on a leash in the Merodese Bossen and on the Kruiskensberg.
