SHORTENING OPTION: In Bobbejaanland you can take a bus to Herentals station.

This hike through the heart of the Kempen allows you to experience typical landscapes of the region and its rich and diverse fauna and flora. After starting in Geel, you quickly reach the green outskirts of the city. Once you pass the bypass, you will reach the Bocholt – Herentals canal along rural paths with scattered buildings. This canal is a paradise for those seeking recreation and a landmark in the landscape. Afterwards, you will hike through the area of the Zegge and can see how - apart from the nature reserve - the wet meadow next to the Kleine Nete has been transformed into agricultural land due to human intervention. You will walk along the banks of this idyllic river for a while and then take a detour through the residential area Villapark in the vicinity of Bobbejaanland into the forest. After leaving these woods with their small ponds and boggy swamps, you ascend along the Kreuzberg to the Kempen hill range. You reach the outskirts of Herentals, bid farewell to the Kleine Nete at the fish ladder, and walk through the Gijnhof into the city, finally reaching the station.
