Cycle path along the Ems-Vechte Canal

The Ems-Vechte Canal (abbreviation: EVK) connects the Vechte in Nordhorn with the Ems in Hanekenfähr south of Lingen.
The EVK is 22.95 km long and has two locks. The profile was constructed as a normal profile with a bottom width of 8.5 m and a depth of 1.8 m. At the surface, the width is 16 m. The Ems lock in Hanekenfähr measures 33 × 6.3 m with a sill depth of 2 m. The coupling lock at the western end in Nordhorn descends into the Vechte. In Nordhorn, there is a connecting canal heading west to the Nordhorn-Almelo Canal. To the north, there is a connection via the South-North Canal to the Coevorden-Piccardie Canal, the Schöninghsdorf-Hoogeveen Canal, and the Haren-Rütenbrock Canal. The Ems-Vechte Canal has ten bridges, of which most are constructed as swing bridges.
