Tour de Waldkirch - Süd

Varied circular hiking trail in and around the organ town of Waldkirch with many sights and viewpoints along the way. With a bit of luck, you can watch hang-gliders and paragliders or climbers on the Großer Kandelfelsen.

Start at the market square in Waldkirch. We first follow the Zweitälersteig trail past the church of St. Margarethen to the Black Forest Zoo and on to the Sinnesweg station. From here, the trail climbs a little steeply up to the treetop path, where you can take a good rest for the first time. The stamp station for this tour is also located here.The ZweiTälerSteig trail leads us up to the Schwarzenberghütte hut with its great views. A short detour to the Schwarzenburg ruins treats us to a wonderful panoramic view down into the Elz Valley with Waldkirch and Kastelburg Castle, but also further on to the Hochburg, the Kaiserstuhl and the distant Vosges Mountains. It's hard to imagine a more beautiful resting place.Now it's back down to the Schwarzenberghütte, where you can replenish your drinking water supplies at the fountain.

Our next stop is the Wolfsgrubenhütte with the fountain of the same name at the upper end of the Dettenbachtal valley. We walk down into the valley along the Dettenbach stream and soon reach our starting point at the market square.Text: Wolfgang Zillgith, Black Forest Association Waldkirch-Kandel
