ArchitekTour - Cycle route through Gütersloh as well as the historic town centers of Rietberg and Rh

At the starting point of this route, the Rheda Water Castle, Weser Renaissance and Westphalian Baroque blend skillfully together. From there, you cycle through the Flora-Westfalica Park to Wiedenbrück, which is characterized by artfully decorated half-timbered burgher houses. Behind these magnificent doors, life pulses: Cozy cafes and restaurants invite you to linger.

Continuing along the Ems to Rietberg. Here you will find many lovingly restored half-timbered monuments. The historic town hall is considered one of the most beautiful in Westphalia. Continuing past the Rietberg Garden Show Park to Neuenkirchen to the Parish Church of St. Margareta, the oldest parish in the former County of Rietberg. Finally, you will arrive at the Benedictine Abbey Varensell.

Now the route leads to Gütersloh, over the babbling Ölbach with the listed Delker Water Mill. You pass through the settlement of Determeyer and arrive at the Spexard Farmhouse from the 16th century, the oldest house in Gütersloh. In the city center, you will witness historically significant architecture with the half-timbered ensemble at the Old Church Square around the Apostelkirche. Afterwards, a detour to the City Museum with its unique museum café is worth it.

Enjoy the relaxing riverside promenades along the Dalke as you head out of the city and cycle to Rheda, whose modest Calvinist-influenced half-timbered architecture has its own charm. Soon you will return to the starting point.
